Each month the Club meets for a light lunch, short program and a business meeting.  The meetings are held at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE with the exception of the December meeting which will be held off site.  Guest are always welcome to join the meeting (see calendar for more details).

Times: Gathering 12-12:30pm, Lunch 12:30-1:00pm, Program 1:00-2:00pm, Business Meeting 2:00-3:00pm.

September 11, 2020 - "How To Photograph Flowers with your Smartphone"

Presenter - Michele Walfred, Communications Specialist, UD

 

Program Details - Ms. Walfred will guide us on how to photograph flowers. To get the right picture requires some techniques which Michele will share with us. She will provide a video presentation, "How to Photograph Flowers with Your Smartphone" for viewing at your leisure.

October 9, 2020 - "Why Test Soil?"

Presenter - Karen Gartley, Director, Soil Testing Program, Dept. of Plant & Social Sciences, UD

 

Program Details - A soil test can determine the current fertility and health of your soil. A home gardener might have their soil tested to determine the appropriate amendments for the intended way they will use their soil.

November 13, 2020 - "Making a Decorative Bow"

December 11, 2020 - "Annual Holiday Luncheon"

    Location - Victoria's Restaurant, Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, 2 Olive Ave. at the Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach, DE  19971; 12:30-2:30pm - Lunch & Business Meeting

     Program Details - Come celebrate the holidays with your GBTS friends. Members    will pre-order from a special menu.  Cost:  $30.00 per. Menu choice was emailed to all members on 11/1. Please email Maryanne Green no later than 11/6 with a yes or no. Monies due on or before 11/16, check made payable to "Boardwalk Plaza" and mailed to Maryanne Green for receipt by 11/16 OR given to Maryanne at John West Park 11-noon on 11/18. On check note on the "For/Memo" line your entree selection.

January 8, 2021 - "De-Stressing after the Holidays - Yoga & Meditation"

Presenter - Pat Wood, a dedicated yogi with many years of experience with Hatha yoga. Pat is a member of GBTS and received her initial training in Southern India.

 

Program Details - Pat will lead GBTS members in some gentle exercises which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.  Dress comfortably and bring your yoga mat or blanket. 

February 12, 2021- "Tree and Plant Management"

Presenter - Jeremy Hager, founder of Coastal Plant Care. His background includes trees, landscaping, environment and project management.

 

Program Details - Are you struggling with the care of your trees and shrubs? Come and meet an expert who will provide some insight and tips.

March 12, 2021 - "Flower Gardening 101"

Presenter - Linda Peters, a Master Gardener, oversaw the Master Gardener vegetable gardens for many years and is extremely knowledgeable about vegetable and flower gardening.  

 

Program Details - Very few things are as uplifting as a flower garden. Properly planned and prepared, it is possible to have not only healthy plants, but blooms for at least nine months of the year.

April 9, 2021- "Q&A Gardening Panel Discussion"

Presenter - Lisa Arni, Chair; Cherie Dorfman, Sandra Lopez, Peggy Ravida and Jean Sewald, Master Gardeners

 

Program Details - Come ready with your gardening questions with answers that will further your success on topics that include small landscapes, new landscapes, containers, perennials and annuals. Think about the plants you will buy at the May meeting at East Coast Garden Center. 

May 14, 2021- "Time to Purchase Plants for Our Gardens"
