Each month the Club meets for a light lunch, short program and a business meeting.  The meetings are held at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE with the exception of the December meeting which will be held off site.  Guest are always welcome to join the meeting (see calendar for more details).

Times: Gathering 12-12:30pm, Lunch 12:30-1:00pm, Program 1:00-2:00pm, Business Meeting 2:00-3:00pm.

September 13, 2019 - "Gardening with Nature"

Presenter - Liz Nalle, Inland Bays Garden Center

 

Program Details - Learn more about native plants, soil testing and pest management for environmentally friendly gardening. 

October 11, 2019 - "Putting Your Garden To Bed & Adding Fall Color"

Presenter - Lindsey Thompson, Lord's Nursery & Landscaping

 

Program Details - Helpful tips for cleaning up your garden and preparing it for the next growing season.  Lindsey will advise us about what to trim and cut back.

November 8, 2019 - "Succulents for Laid-back Gardeners"

Presenter - Gainor Urian, Master Gardener, assisted by GBTS member Maureen Ryan

 

Program Details - Explore the many types of succulents, various cultivars and propagation methods.  Because of their ability to exist in a variety of environments with shallow root systems, there is no limit to the fun planting them in unique containers.

December 13, 2019 - "Annual Holiday Luncheon"

      Location - Just Hooked, 1500 Coastal Highway, Fenwick Island, DE

     Program Details - Come celebrate the holidays with your GBTS friends. Members             choose from the standard lunch menu. Individual checks will be provided.

 

January 10, 2020 - "Origami with Signe"

Presenter - Signe Klinat

 

Program Details - Be entertained by the Japanese art of paper folding.  Signe was taught by her mother and will demonstrate how to brighten our winter days with her lovely origami creations. 

February 14, 2020 - "Horticulture Heaven"

Presenter - Dottie Howatt, State Flower Show Chair

 

Program Details - We will learn all the "dirt" on the upcoming horticulture specialty flower show.  Dottie will share a plethora of information in preparation for the June event.

March 13, 2020 - "Dew Bee Dew"

Presenter - Ron Wilson, owner of Stillbrook Farm Apiary and an active member of the Lower Eastern Shore Beekeeper Association

 

Program Details - Let's find out from Ron how to create a "buzz" in our gardens.  Ron will suggest flowers to attract bees and other pollinators.  His raw honey in four forms will be available to purchase.

April 10, 2020 - "Recognizing Backyard Birdsongs"

Presenter - Ginny Seaman, Master Gardener

 

Program Details - Ginny will introduce us to the twelve common backyard birds in Sussex County.  The "hows and whys" of their songs help us learn to identify them by sight and sound. 

May 8, 2020- "Foodscaping with Flair"

Presenter - Nancy Hoffman, former caterer and Ria Carraro, hostess extraordinaire

 

Program Details - Get on board for summer entertaining by planting edible flowers along with your herbs.  The GBTS dynamic duo will demonstrate fun ways to impress your guests from your kitchen and garden. 

June 12, 2020 - "Pizza with Pizazz"

Presenter - Ellen Dowling and Judy Stuhl, members of GBTS

 

Program Details - Enjoy pizza while GBTS members Ellen and Judy, Horticulture Specialty Show Co-Chairs, suggest tips and techniques to add pizazz at our upcoming Flower Show. Q&A follow.
